The Seasons
In Spring, the procession of hummingbirds, finches and robins arrive to make their nests and swoop over the open spaces. Great Blue Herons and Bald Eagles come to visit the pond, while baby ducks hide among the grasses. The fenced garden space and its raised beds are sowed in anticipation of the abundance of veggies and flowers to come while chickens saunter in and out of their coup. Summers bring long, lazy days of outdoor picnics and dinners with friends under the garden arbor, shaded by wild kiwi vines. Afternoon naps on the porch are a favorite when the days linger on and full-moon nights beside the fire pit encourage long conversations and a song or two. The iconic barn opens its doors to greet friends, family and community for gatherings of all occasions. Autumn offers up majestic orange and red hues as the trees change their color and the cooler days make brisk walks through the woods a delight. The garden gives up its final harvests as you wrap yourself in oversized sweaters and plaid blankets to savor one more glimpse of a sunset and starlit skies. In Winter, you move inside to read by the wood fire, cook in the cozy kitchen on the big Grizzly range and gather at the long table. The original wood cabin creates the perfect setting for old-fashioned holiday traditions and occasional snowfalls you can watch from any window in the home. Goldsmith Farm is a special place and awaits the next stewards to call it home and contribute to its rich and flavorful history.
